Vakulya Zoltan is a Brussels based dancer and choreographer born in Hungary in 1986.

He has studied theater, choreography and dance at the Keleti Istvan Arts School, Budapest Contemporary Dance University, and in Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance /SEAD/ where he graduated in 2011. He held the Danceweb scholarship in Impulstanz International Dance Festival in Vienna at 2011. He has received the Leonardo De Vinci Scholarship as well the Bursa Hungarica scholarship during his studies and the first years of his career.

Zoltán has worked as an actor and director between 2002 and 2006 Merlin International Theater Budapest and other institutions in Hungary. Since 2011, he has worked with other choreographers, composers and visual artist across Europe, such as David Zambrano, HODWORKS company, MalPelo company, Kendell Geers, Francesco Scavetta, Karl Van Welden, Benjamin Vandewalle , Albert Quesada and others.

He has created several dance performances / ‘Pause’ (2012) ‘One Two Three One Two’ (2015), ‘Together Alone’ (2016), ’It’s time’ (2017) / He has been touring in Europe, Brazil, Taiwan, UK, etc. in festivals such as the Venice Biennale, Grec, San Francisco International Arts Festival, SIDance Korea, Rencontres Choréograhiques, Kunstenfestival, Charleroi Danses Biennale, etc.

Since 2017 Zoltan has been continuously collaborating with Lee Chen Wei in different creations / ‘Together Alone’, ‘kNown face’ /.

 

Zoltán has been teaching dance, tools for choreography and composition since 2012 in different institutions and universities such as Libero Corpo Italy, Beijing Dance Academy, Danscentrum Jette Brussels, National University of Theater and Film Budapest, Taipei National Dance University, Shih Chien University of Creative Media Design Taipei, etc.
